February was an *amazing* month for me – I felt like I was overflowing with love and positive vibes pretty much the entire time. See everything I was gushing about here, or watch below:
February was also a beautiful music month for me – just found tracks that REALLY resonated. Larry Heard is A GENIUS, the Thugfucker set the third track is pulled from is bliss, Marie Dahlstrom is *always* on point, and the track by The Revenge is trés sexy. Hope you enjoy the vibes…
1. Ananda Project – I Hear You Dreaming (Larry Heard Nocturnal Mix)
2. Larry Heard – Missing You (Original Mix)
3. Viana + Miguel Garji – The Black Mountain (Soul Minority Mix)*
4. Marie Dahlstrom – Crashing Down
5. The Revenge – Just Be Good To Mario feat. Danielle Moore (Original Mix)
*From Thugfucker’s Burning Man 2012 Mix which I *HIGHLY* recommend –

My top 5 tracks of the month, here for your listening pleasure! I had a love affair with each of these, with the Frank + Tony remix of the Herbert Track “I Hadn’t Known” probably taking the cake for most listened to track of the month. Just something about them – all three of them, really. I was a Matthew Herbert fan long before I was a Frank + Tony Fan (his remix of Serge Gainsbourg’s “Bonnie & Clyde, anyone???). If you want a copy of “I Hadn’t Known” I think you can still download it for free here:
The Lawrence Remix of Lake People’s “Drifting Red” is ethereal and sublime – slightly minimal but with a substantial bass line. I had a moment with Black Coffee in late November that carried through into December, and Jullian Gomes’s remix of Rock My World brings that beautiful, soulful female vocal that initially hooked me into house – done very properly here. I’ve been OBSESSED with Andre Lodemann’s sound after hearing so many of his tracks in Lee Burridge sets. He sound is so deep and layered to me, and this remix he did of Temporary Hero’s “Ballet” is one of my favorite recent finds of his. And I spent some time going through Resident Advisor’s top artists and labels of 2015 – recent list releases of theirs as we close out the year – and realized I needed to be into Hunee (aside, he’s djing in Boston in late January ouiiiiii). I guess he’s had a real break out year in underground house, and I’m seeing why. This remix he did of Virgo Four’s “It’s A Crime” is feel-good and fun, and I could have imagined myself playing it during one of my gigs in my grad school days, to the non-house music initiated. Just a good dance track, in my opinion.

I’ve been wanting to curate monthly playlists for a long time [and as an aside, it’s always one of my long term goals to regularly record and post my own mixes]. I always end my monthly favorites videos with La Musique and end up linking to tracks on YouTube or Soundcloud but I know that’s extra effort and really probably no one clicks through to those links.
Now it’s easier! You can hear my top tracks of the month all in one convenient spot! Here’s some of my faves from the month of November, some of which I mentioned at the end of my November Favorites video. I *really* hope you enjoy. Stay Gold <3
If you like any of these tracks, please consider supporting the artists by purchasing them for your own music library. All can be purchased on Beatport, except for the Nina Simone remix which is only available for purchase on CD format off Amazon.

Ok fine, some shopping. It’s Black Friday and I have a bunch of tabs open with carts filled to varying degrees – though will I actually pull the trigger on any of them? Aside from this strange online shopping behavior, I’ve been vibing to two *amazing* mixes this morning as I do lots of laundry/cleaning/palo-santo-ing my space. I’ve had these two mixes in my rotation for the last several weeks – each delivers something different, but I find myself getting lost in both. I can’t take credit for discovering them – my girl Kat let me know what’s up.
1. Black Coffee’s MixMag In Session mix (this looks to be about a year old): just getting into Black Coffee these days; he delivers a classic deep house sound with some tribal elements, and lots of soulful vocals. I see this sound working really well in a traditional nightclub setting, and seems versatile enough to appeal to house music neophytes as well as seasoned house heads:

2. Guy Mantzur’s A Guy In Ibiza #02: B2B With Guy J @ Alter Ego Sunset Secret Party Set (recorded September 20, 2015): SO into this sound, more minimal/tribal/exotic/esoteric/sacred dance music that seems more likely to appeal to real underground enthusiasts who frequent festivals in tropical locales and party for 24-48 hours straight (or more), versus dance music noobs. I’m obsessed with this set.

Ok, so I promise I’ll start posting more REAL blog posts in the future, not just posts about when I upload a new video to YouTube : / I’m just always overly optimistic and aspirational about the amount of time I have to devote to these endeavors. But, I did upgrade to a new camera (birthday gift!) so the quality of the video here should be significantly better. More to come!
