Oct Patron Exclusive Video | COSTCO Shop With Me (Ingredient Conscious & Kid-Friendly POV) [Patreon]
I had fun getting this video together. And since going to the store sans kids feels like a vacation this was especially enjoyable :) A few notes:
*The pomegranates start to become available in late September and will be there all through winter. They are not organic but since the skin is quite thick and organic poms are hard to find (and honestly often not very good) I go for these. I have found the quality of these Costco poms to be consistently excellent. If anyone has an organic mail order pomegranate source please share!
*The kiwis were terrible, they haven't ripened properly so I would avoid. That's not the first time that has happened.
*Usually I would get bananas but they were out of organic; their organic produce was quite lacking the day I went.
*I forgot to point out the Annie's macaroni & cheese which is of course a kid-friendly item but my kids don't like one of the included flavors so I stopped buying because we just kept stockpiling the "Blue Annies." I've since switched to the Jovial Macaroni & Cheese box as a very quick option but tbh I mostly make my boys "cheesy pasta" which takes very little extra effort to Annie's (you just shred some cheese and add that along with butter and milk or cream to your pasta of choice et voila).
*Check the dairy aisle for Cocojune because I've seen it there before and keep hoping it will come back! Amazing coconut yogurt.
*We used to get Dave's Killer Bread (organic, 2 loaves) but since I bake so much and we just don't have much freezer space I stopped. We get a local sandwich bread (Brown Bear Bread) regularly at a nearby market and my kids also like the Alvarado Street Bakery breads you can get frozen at Whole Foods or co-ops. We don't do Organic Bread of Heaven much anymore because I sadly think their quality has declined in the past year! I make artisan loaves but still need to work on my pan loaves.
I'm probably forgetting things but please share any of. your favorites or must haves below!
